Martell earned his undergraduate degree from Webster University before receiving his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law, where he focused his legal education on criminal litigation and trial advocacy. During law school, he distinguished himself through Dean’s Scholarship honors, participation on Saint Louis University’s nationally recognized Trial Team, and success in regional and national trial advocacy competitions.
Before joining Combs Waterkotte, Martell developed an exceptional foundation in criminal defense through the Missouri State Public Defender’s Office, the Cook County Public Defender’s Office in Chicago, and the Federal Public Defender’s Office. These experiences provided him with extensive courtroom experience handling serious felony cases, conducting legal research on complex constitutional issues, drafting and arguing motions, preparing cases for trial, and working directly with clients through every stage of the criminal justice process.
