Scott Michael Dunn: How accurate are breathalyzer tests used by Illinois police?
Joshua Boardman: They are, by and large, more accurate than not. But that doesn’t mean that we still don’t evaluate the last time that they were calibrated, whether the person utilizing that breathalyzer was certified to do so. That can be relevant evidence, especially if the BAC is close to a legal limit to where if there are discrepancies or if there are issues with calibration, that can lead to some doubt later on in the case.
