Scott Michael Dunn: Can I lose professional licenses based on sex crime allegations?
Joshua Boardman: You certainly can and it happens frequently. And the reason why is a lot of these applications for professional licensing require near perfect or completely justifiable criminal records. And so, if you are convicted of a felony itself, then that may disqualify you. And certainly where there’s going to be trust placed in you or you are a caretaker provider, even felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions outside of the context of sex crimes can prohibit it. But when you add in the allegations that are often associated or the conduct associated with sex crimes, that certainly can preclude you from holding many types of boards or licensing, whether that be state or federal.
