720 ILCS 5/29D-10 Definitions
Section 5/29D-10 explains what certain words mean in the context of this chapter.
(a) “Computer network” means a set of devices that are connected and transmit data between each other.
(b) “Computer” means a machine that receives and processes data, including connected devices.
(c) “Computer program” means code that tells a computer how to process data.
(d) “Data” means information in a format that a computer can understand.
(e) “Biological products used in or in connection with agricultural
production” means things like seeds, plant material, and DNA, if it is used in farming.
(f) “Agricultural products” means plants and animals on farms.
(g) “Agricultural production” means the act of growing plants and raising animals on farms.
(g-5) “Animal feed” means food that is made for animals instead of humans.
(g-10) “Contagious or infectious disease” means any of a list of diseases decided on by the Illinois government.
(g-15) “Processed food” means any food besides raw plant and animals, including things like canned, cooked, or frozen food.
(g-20) “Raw agricultural commodity” means food that has not been processed at all.
(g-25) “Endangering the food supply” means taking actions that expose Illinois animals and plants to sicknesses or pest infestations.
(g-30) “Endangering the water supply” means doing something that makes the water people drink and use unsafe.
(h) “Livestock” means animals that were bred for people to eat.
(i) “Crops” means plants that are grown for people or animals to eat.
(j) “Communications systems” means anything to do with radio, phone, or similar networks.
(k) “Substantial damage” means any damage is over $100,000 in value.
(l) “Terrorist act” or “act of terrorism” means any actions that can cause great or widespread damage to any of a variety of industries, including food and communications.
(m) “Terrorist” and “terrorist organization” means someone who plans to commit terrorism and scare a large portion of Illinois citizens.
(n) “Material support or resources” means different ways you can help someone, such as by giving them money, a place to stay, training, and more.
(o) “Person” means an individual or organization.
(p) “Render criminal assistance” means taking actions to help someone escape the police, such as by hiding them, warning them, or giving them money.
