Interview Transcript

Scott Michael Dunn: What are my rights if I am arrested in Illinois?

Joshua Boardman: In Illinois, the constitutional rights mirror the constitutional rights of the United States. So you’re going to think of the sort of the catch-all. You’ve got the right to remain silent and not incriminate yourself. You’ve got the right to have an attorney representing you. You’ve got search-and-seizure rights under the Fourth Amendment. So anything, presumably, that you would be protected by constitutionally speaking, whether it’s nationally, that would be applicable in the state of Illinois as well.
