Scott Michael Dunn: Let’s talk about expungement, sealing, and record consequences. Can a sex crime be expunged in the state of Illinois?
Joshua Boardman: My answer to that is vehemently going to be no, and that’s going to be based partially on the fact that it’s a sex crime, but partially on the fact that Illinois does not allow for expungements generally speaking. Obviously, there’s exceptions, but Illinois does not generally allow for expungements where there has been a felony convictions. So, because of all the sex crimes that we have discussed or that are commonly discussed are felonious, then if you convicted, then that by itself would render them unqualified for expungement.
