579.150. Distribution of prescription medication on school property — exceptions — penalty.

Giving out prescription meds at school without a prescription is illegal.

If you’re under 21 and hand out prescription medicine at school or on a school bus to someone without a prescription, it’s a crime.

1. You commit this offense if you’re under 21 and knowingly give prescription medication (not including controlled substances) to someone without a valid prescription while on school grounds or a school bus.

2. This law doesn’t apply to:

  • School staff who are allowed to handle or give out prescriptions under chapter 338,
  • Emergency workers using prescription meds during emergencies.
