Scott Michael Dunn: Will a DUI affect my job or professional licenses in the state of Illinois?

Joshua Boardman: It certainly can. I can’t speak for each industry or each employer, but it is a criminal charge with criminal penalties. The first one being a misdemeanor, the second one being a misdemeanor, but after that it is a felony. It could be a felony conviction. So, there a number of different licensing boards or employers that have pretty strict guidelines for who they employ. While some may view DUIs as pretty common offenses, it’s still a criminal offense that can affect your employability.
