Scott Michael Dunn: Where are DUI cases handled in Illinois?
Joshua Boardman: Chicago, like the rest of the state of Illinois, has a courthouse where the criminal case is going to be facilitated, where you’re going to have your appearances, where the judge is going to be. So, for each county that you get a charge in, you’ll be required to go to your court date at the local courthouse, which is typically just kind of the county seat. But Chicago operates in the same manner. Chicago is different based on its population. They have different courthouses that handle different types of cases. So, they may have a felony courthouse, they have a dedicated domestic violence courthouse, and then they’ll have DUI dockets within a courthouse. But generally speaking, all DUIs as misdemeanor and felonies are going to be handled at the courthouse or at the criminal docket that is within the county that you were issued the ticket.
