Scott Michael Dunn: What is the difference between DUI and DWI in Illinois?

Joshua Boardman: Well, DWI stands for driving while intoxicated. DUI is driving under the influence. Some of that’s largest semantics or what the state has identified from their definitions or terminology. For example, in Missouri the same conduct is called a DWI, but in Illinois it’s called a DUI. So, they essentially mean the same thing. Different states have different terminology.
