Scott Michael Dunn: How long does sex offender registration last in Illinois?
Joshua Boardman: I would say there’s two well-known classifications. One would be a 10-year registration. The other would be lifetime registration. And obviously that’s going to depend on what you were convicted of, found guilty of, pled to. Obviously think the more, serious is probably sort of an understated word for it, but basically the more egregious the actions that can be proven and also whether or not there’s aggravating or enhancing factors.
Christopher Combs: The felony level.
Boardman: Yes, if you’re in Class X realms or classifications of felonies and there’s repeat offenses and different things like that can differentiate between a lifetime registration versus a 10-year registration.
