Scott Michael Dunn: Can you be charged with a sex crime without physical evidence in Illinois?
Christopher Combs: Of course, and that doesn’t even have to be in Illinois. That can be any state. And when you mean evidence, your question was can you be charged without evidence?
Dunn: Correct, without physical evidence.
Combs: Without physical evidence, yes. So, everyone these days watching CSI and everything wants the DNA and this and that. But no, oftentimes, and I think Josh will echo this, there’s not physical evidence in a lot of these sex cases. An allegation, a statement is enough. A lot of people that we talk to regarding cases, they’re like, “Well, there’s no evidence against me.” And we have to explain, “Well, there’s not any physical evidence, but a statement is testimony, and testimony is evidence.”
