Scott Michael Dunn: Can I get a FOID card after a sex crimes case?
Joshua Boardman: No, you cannot. And to answer your question directly, no, you cannot because you cannot possess a FOID card or have access to firearms after a felony conviction in Illinois. But oftentimes, you are required to surrender that even based on allegations.
Dunn: Wow.
Boardman: And that can be as a result of the allegations of the case and also, for example, I’ve had individuals that have had to surrender their FOID card just based on allegations of domestic violence or orders of protections can have a requirement in there that a FOID card is surrendered and firearms are surrendered.
