Scott Michael Dunn: Can a DUI affect immigration status in Illinois?
Joshua Boardman: Yes, it can because it is a criminal charge against you. And so if you are already in an undetermined immigration status or you have requirements to abide by the law or to not have any criminal behavior or participate in any criminal behavior, and you get a DUI, then you’re likely going to raise red flags through your immigration process, your immigration eligibility. I’m not an immigration attorney, but practically speaking, there are a number of negative consequences that can be affected whenever someone is convicted of a DUI.
