720 ILCS 5/31-3 – Obstructing Service of Process
This law says it’s illegal to stop or get in the way of an officer delivering court papers or orders.
If someone knowingly blocks or interferes when a legal order or notice is being handed out, they can be charged with a Class B misdemeanor, which is a minor crime.
Sec. 31-3. Obstructing Service of Process.
Anyone who on purpose resists or gets in the way of an officer or other authorized person delivering or carrying out any civil or criminal court order or document is committing a Class B misdemeanor.
