720 ILCS 5/24-3.7 – Use of a Stolen Firearm in the Commission of an Offense
This law makes it a serious crime to use a gun you know is stolen while committing another crime.
If someone uses a stolen gun on purpose while doing something illegal and knows the gun was stolen, that person commits this crime. It is punished as a Class 2 felony, which means it can lead to several years in prison.
(a) A person breaks this law if they knowingly use a stolen gun while committing any other crime and they also know the gun was stolen.
(b) Sentence: This crime is a Class 2 felony.
