566.068. Child molestation, second degree, penalties.

It’s illegal to touch a child in a sexual way.

This law makes it a serious sex crime to have sexual contact with a child under 12, or with a child under 17 if the adult is much older and the act is very serious or violent.

1. A person commits second-degree child molestation if they:

  1. Touch a child under 12 in a sexual way; or
  2. Are more than 4 years older than a child under 17 and touch the child in a sexual way, and the act includes serious or aggravated behavior (like threats, violence, or injury).

2. This is a class B felony.
