Former Law Enforcement Officer Avoids 18-Year Prison Sentence
A Warrenton, MO man and former law enforcement officer was involved in an alleged road rage incident during his morning commute on Highway 40/64. Armed with his service weapon from his role as an armed security guard at a local hospital, our client discharged two shots at another vehicle. He faced charges carrying a potential 18-year prison sentence, with a mandatory minimum of 85% to be served. Through a meticulous investigation—challenging ballistics, subpoenaing 911 calls, filing Missouri Sunshine Law requests, and uncovering critical communications between the prosecutor’s office and local law enforcement—we identified significant weaknesses in the prosecution’s case. As a result, our client secured a favorable plea agreement, receiving 5 years of probation.
