Hazelwood Man Facing 25+ Years in Prison Avoids Lengthy Incarceration.
A Hazelwood man attended a Memorial Day barbecue where he became intoxicated. Upon returning home, a domestic dispute escalated, resulting in allegations that he assaulted his wife. During the altercation, his adult stepsons intervened and assaulted him. In a highly impaired state, our client retrieved an assault rifle, entered his vehicle, and fired multiple rounds in an attempt to scare his stepsons. The gunfire struck nearby inhabited apartments. He faced over 25 years in prison with an 85% mandatory minimum. Our team conducted an extensive investigation, challenging ballistics, took multiple depositions, and facilitated his enrollment in treatment. These efforts culminated in a plea agreement under which our client was sentenced to 120 days in the Intensive Therapeutic Community (ITC) program within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
