Combs Waterkotte represented a Potosi man on a charge of first degree murder and armed criminal action for shooting and killing his son-in-law in the living room of his home. We prepared a strong self-defense case. Despite the fact that our client was never physically touched by the victim and the victim did not possess a weapon, ten jurors voted not guilty of all charges while two jurors voted guilty of second degree murder. Because the jury verdict must be unanimous and the jury could not agree as to the verdict, a mistrial was declared.
