574.020. Private peace disturbance — penalty
Starting a fight or making threats on private property is a crime
If someone is on private property and purposely causes alarm by threatening someone or getting into a fight, they can be charged with a misdemeanor.
1. A person commits private peace disturbance if they are on private property and purposely and unreasonably scare or alarm others on the same property by:
- (1) Threatening to commit a crime against someone; or
- (2) Fighting.
2. Private peace disturbance is a class C misdemeanor.
3. If a building has separate units—like apartments or offices—each unit counts as a separate space for this law.
