573.112. Threatening the nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images, offense of — elements — penalty.
It’s a felony to use private sexual images to threaten or pressure someone.
This law makes it a crime to try to get money, favors, or control over someone by threatening to share their private sexual images without consent.
1. A person commits this offense if they try to get something of value or force someone to do (or not do) something by threatening to share a sexual or nude image of that person, when:
- (1) The person in the image is at least 18 years old;
- (2) The person can be identified from the image or related information; and
- (3) The image shows a sexual act or exposed intimate parts, and was originally shared in private.
2. Threatening to share someone’s private sexual images is a class E felony.
