573.023. Sexual exploitation of a minor — penalties.

It’s a serious crime to create obscene material that involves a minor.

This law makes it a felony to take or make any kind of obscene photo or video that includes a minor. If the child is under 14, the penalty is even more severe.

1. A person commits sexual exploitation of a minor if they knowingly or recklessly take pictures, film, or create any obscene material involving a minor or child pornography.

2. Sexual exploitation of a minor is a class B felony. But if the minor is under 14 years old, it becomes a class A felony.
