569.060. Reckless burning or exploding — penalty.

Carelessly starting a fire or explosion that damages property is a crime

In Missouri, even if you didn’t mean to cause damage, you can still be charged if you act carelessly and start a fire or explosion that damages someone else’s property.

1. A person commits this offense if they recklessly (carelessly or without thinking) start a fire or cause an explosion, and it damages or destroys someone else’s property.

2. This crime is a class B misdemeanor.
