Starting a fire that damages someone else’s building
If someone starts a fire or causes an explosion that recklessly damages or destroys another person’s building, it’s third-degree arson.
1. A person commits this crime if they purposely start a fire or cause an explosion and, by being reckless, damage or destroy a building or home that belongs to someone else.
2. Arson in the third degree is a class A misdemeanor.
