720 ILCS 646/40 – Protection of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Operations (e.g. Booby Traps)
This law makes it a felony to help protect a meth lab or keep it hidden from police.
This Illinois law says it’s illegal to act as a lookout or guard for someone making meth. Anyone who does this can be charged with a serious crime called a Class 2 felony.
(a) It is against the law to take part in protecting a meth-making operation. A person is helping protect a meth operation if:
- The person knows that others have made, are making, or plan to make methamphetamine; and
- The person tries to help keep the meth-making hidden or safe from being stopped by serving as a lookout or guard.
(b) Sentence: Anyone who breaks this law commits a Class 2 felony, which is a serious crime that can lead to prison time.
