720 ILCS 642/5 – Kratom Sale To Or Possession By Minors Prohibited
This law says that people younger than 18 cannot buy or have kratom products.
This Illinois law makes it illegal for anyone under 18 years old to buy or possess kratom, a plant used in some products. Breaking this rule can lead to a misdemeanor charge and possible fines.
(a) In this law, “Kratom” means any part of the plant called Mitragyna speciosa. It also includes anything made from that plant, such as its chemicals or mixtures that have it in them.
(b) Anyone under 18 years old is not allowed to knowingly buy or have any product that contains kratom.
(e) Sentence: If someone breaks the rule in part (b), it is a Class B misdemeanor.
