720 ILCS 570/407.2 – Delivery of Controlled Substances to a Pregnant Woman
This law makes it a more serious crime to give or sell illegal drugs to someone who is pregnant.
This Illinois law says that if a person gives or sells illegal drugs to a woman they know is pregnant, they can face much harsher punishment, including more prison time and large fines.
(a) Sentence: If someone gives or sells a controlled (illegal) drug to a woman they know is pregnant, they can be put in prison for up to twice as long as the normal maximum sentence for that drug crime.
(b) Sentence: If someone gives or sells certain larger amounts of illegal drugs to a woman they know is pregnant, it is a Class 1 felony.The person can be fined up to $250,000 and may face serious prison time.
