720 ILCS 5/33E-15 – False Entries (in Records of Public Contracts)
This law makes it illegal for a government or school employee to lie in official records to cheat or steal from the public.
This law says that someone who works for or is connected to a local government or school district cannot make false statements in official documents on purpose to trick or cheat the government or school district. Doing so is a serious crime.
(a) A person who works for or is connected in any way with a local government or school district breaks this law if they make false entries in any book, report, or statement of that government or school. This is true if the person does it on purpose to cheat or trick the government or school district.
(b) Sentence: The punishment for making false entries is a Class 3 felony.
