720 ILCS 5/30-2 – Misprision of Treason
This law makes it a crime to hide what you know about someone committing treason against Illinois.
If someone knows another person has committed treason against the State of Illinois and purposely keeps that secret, they can be charged with a crime called misprision of treason.
(a) A person who owes loyalty to Illinois breaks this law if they know that someone has committed treason against the state and they choose to hide or not tell anyone about it.
(b) Sentence: Misprision of treason is a Class 4 felony, which is a serious crime that can lead to prison time and other penalties.
