720 ILCS 5/24.8-2 – Carrying or Discharging Air Rifles on Public Streets (By Minors)
This law says kids under 13 must not carry or shoot air rifles in public places unless the gun is not loaded.
This Illinois law makes it illegal for children under 13 to carry loaded air rifles in public, and for anyone to shoot air rifles in or across public streets, sidewalks, or other public areas, unless they are in a safe shooting range.
(a) A person under 13 years old breaks this law if they carry an air rifle on public streets, roads, highways, or public lands in Illinois, unless the air rifle is not loaded.
(b) A person breaks this law if they shoot an air rifle from or across any public street, sidewalk, road, highway, or public land, or in a public place, unless they are at a safe and built-for-purpose target range.
