720 ILCS 5/24.8-1 – Selling, Renting, or Transferring Air Rifles to Children (Under 13)

This law says it’s illegal to sell, rent, or give an air rifle to a kid under 13.

This Illinois law makes it against the law for dealers or other people to sell, rent, or give air rifles to children under 13 years old. Parents, guardians, or instructors can allow kids to use them under supervision, but others cannot.

(a) A dealer breaks this law if they sell, lend, rent, give, or transfer an air rifle to anyone under 13 years old when they know or should have known the person is under 13. They also break the law if they don’t ask about the age and the person turns out to be under 13.

(b) Any person breaks this law if they sell, give, lend, or transfer an air rifle to someone under 13 years old. However, this rule does not apply if the person is the child’s parent, guardian, teacher, or another adult responsible for the child.
