573.065. Coercing acceptance of obscene material — penalty

It’s illegal to force someone to accept obscene content in a business deal

If a person pressures or punishes someone for not accepting obscene or pornographic material—especially in a sale or business arrangement—they can be charged with a felony.

1. A person commits coercing acceptance of obscene material if they knowingly:

  • (1) Make someone accept obscene material in order to complete a sale or delivery of other items; or
  • (2) Take away a franchise or punish someone—financially or otherwise—for refusing obscene or pornographic content meant for minors.

2. Coercing acceptance of obscene material is a class E felony.
