565.188. Failure to report elder abuse or neglect — penalty.

Some people must report elder abuse — not doing so is a crime

If someone is legally required to report elder abuse or neglect and they knowingly don’t, they can be charged with a misdemeanor.

1. A person commits this offense if they are legally required to report elder abuse or neglect (under section 192.2405) and knowingly choose not to report it.

2. The offense of failure to report elder abuse or neglect is a class A misdemeanor.
