§ 579.090 RSMo – Prescription Drug Tampering by Pharmacist in Missouri

579.090. Tampering with a prescription or a drug prescription order — penalty.

Pharmacists can’t change or mess with prescriptions to trick people.

If a pharmacist changes a drug or lies about it to mislead someone, it’s a serious crime.

1. A licensed pharmacist commits the offense of tampering with a prescription or a drug prescription order if they knowingly do any of the following:

  • (1) Change the strength or ingredients of a prescribed drug without telling the doctor who wrote the prescription.
  • (2) Mislead someone by giving them a drug that’s misbranded, altered, or watered down.
  • (3) Sell a misbranded, altered, or watered-down drug with the intent to trick the buyer.

2. Tampering with a prescription drug order is a class A felony.
