578.050. Bullbaiting and cockfighting — penalty

Organizing, supporting, or allowing animal fights like cockfighting is illegal

Anyone involved in fights between animals like bulls, roosters, or bears—whether by managing the event, helping out, or letting it happen on their property—can be charged with a misdemeanor.

1. A person commits this offense if they:

  • (1) Run, help manage, or take money for entry into a place used for animal fighting (excluding dogs);
  • (2) Encourage, help with, or are present at such a place used for bullbaiting or cockfighting; or
  • (3) Allow their property to be used for these kinds of animal fights.

2. Bullbaiting or cockfighting is a class A misdemeanor.
