571.150. Use or possession of a metal-penetrating bullet during the commission of a crime — definition — penalty

Using special armor-piercing bullets during a crime is a serious felony

If someone has or uses certain hard-core bullets while committing a crime, they can be charged with a class B felony.

1. In this law, a “metal-penetrating bullet” means a handgun bullet in sizes like 9mm, .25, .32, .38, .357, .41, .44, .451, or similar. These bullets have a very hard metal core that’s made to keep its shape when it hits something. This doesn’t include bullets made with copper or brass jackets and soft lead inside.

2. Anyone who uses or has one of these metal-penetrating bullets while committing a crime is guilty of a class B felony.
