720 ILCS 642/5(d) – Sale or Distribution of Kratom to a Minor
This law makes it illegal to sell or give kratom to anyone under 18 years old.
This Illinois law says that no one can give or sell kratom, a plant used in some products, to people younger than 18. Breaking this law can lead to a fine and a misdemeanor charge.
(a) “Kratom” means any part of the plant called Mitragyna speciosa, whether it is growing or not. It also includes anything made from that plant, such as salts, mixtures, or chemicals that come from it – including mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine.
(d) A person cannot knowingly sell, buy for, give samples of, or provide any product containing kratom to anyone under 18 years old.
(e) Sentence: If the person breaks section (d) and sells or gives kratom to a minor, it is a Class B misdemeanor, and they must pay a fine of at least $500.
