720 ILCS 570/401.5 – Chemical Breakdown of Illicit Controlled Substance
This law makes it illegal to make or prepare illegal drugs (other than meth) by breaking down or mixing other illegal drugs.
This law says that people cannot use chemicals or other illegal drugs to create new illegal drugs. It also says it is against the law to have materials you plan to use to make these drugs, and breaking this law can lead to a felony charge.
(a) It is illegal for anyone to make a drug (other than methamphetamine) by using a chemical process to turn one or more illegal drugs into another illegal drug.
(a-5) It is illegal for anyone to have any material or substance if they plan to use it to help make an illegal drug (other than meth), a fake drug, or a copy of a real illegal drug, unless they are allowed by law to do so.
(b) Sentence: A person who breaks this law commits a Class 4 felony.
