720 ILCS 5/33E-14 – False Statements (In Connection With Public Contracts)
This law makes it a crime to lie on vendor applications to a local government or school district.
This Illinois law says that if someone knowingly gives false information to try to affect a government or school district’s decision on a vendor application, that person can be charged with a crime. This crime is a Class 3 felony, which is a serious offense.
(a) A person breaks this law if he or she knowingly gives untrue information or reports in order to influence, in any way, the decision of a city, county, town, or school district when they are reviewing a vendor application.
(b) Sentence: Giving false statements on vendor applications is punished as a Class 3 felony.
