720 ILCS 5/33-4 – Gang-Related Activity by a Peace Officer or Correctional Officer
This law says police or correctional officers cannot help gangs, unless it’s part of an undercover investigation.
This Illinois law makes it illegal for police or corrections officers to help or support street gangs in any way, unless they are doing so for undercover work to stop crime.
(a) It is against the law for a police officer or correctional officer to knowingly take part in any activity that helps a gang, unless the officer is doing it as part of a secret investigation for law enforcement.
(b) In this law, “gang-related” means anything that involves or supports a criminal street gang.
(c) Sentence: Breaking this law is a Class 3 felony, which means it is a serious crime that can lead to prison time.
