720 ILCS 5/32-11 – Barratry (Engaging in Habitual Litigation for Profit)
This law makes it illegal to cause fights or lawsuits between people just to make trouble or money.
This Illinois law says that anyone who purposely causes arguments or court cases between people to stir up problems is breaking the law. If a lawyer does this, they can lose their right to practice for up to six months.
Sec. 32-11. Barratry. If a person purposely and wrongfully starts or encourages other people to fight or file lawsuits just to cause trouble or earn money, that person commits the petty offense of common barratry.
If the person who does this is a lawyer, they can be stopped from working as a lawyer for up to 6 months.
