720 ILCS 5/31-6(b-1) – Escape of a Sexually Violent Person or Detainee
This law says that someone held for being sexually violent commits a serious crime if they deliberately escape from custody.
This Illinois law makes it a Class 2 felony when a person who has been ordered by a court to stay in a secure mental health facility or under supervision, because of a sexually violent act, escapes on purpose.
(b-1) A person who is in the care of the Department of Human Services because of a court order (in relation to the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act) and who intentionally escapes from a secure home, facility, or from an employee or agent of the Department commits a Class 2 felony.
Sentence: Class 2 felony (a serious crime that can lead to several years in prison).
