720 ILCS 5/29A-2 – Commercial Bribery (Accepting a Bribe)
This law makes it illegal for an employee to take something valuable to act unfairly at work.
This statute says that an employee, agent, or trusted person breaks the law if they accept or agree to accept a reward or gift from someone else to change how they do their job, without their boss’s permission.
(Section 29A-2) A worker, helper, or person trusted to act for someone else commits the offense of commercial bribery when they, without their employer’s or boss’s permission, ask for, take, or agree to take something valuable from another person. This is illegal if the deal or promise is meant to make them act differently from how they should in doing their job or handling their boss’s business.
