720 ILCS 5/21-2 – Criminal Trespass to Vehicles

This law says it’s illegal to enter or use someone else’s vehicle without permission.

This Illinois law makes it a crime to go into or use a vehicle, boat, plane, or snowmobile if you know you are not allowed to. Breaking this law is a Class A misdemeanor, which is a serious offense but not a felony.

(a) A person commits criminal trespass to vehicles when he or she knowingly and without permission goes into or drives any kind of vehicle, airplane, boat, or snowmobile that belongs to someone else.

(b) Sentence: The punishment for criminal trespass to vehicles is a Class A misdemeanor.
