720 ILCS 5/18-6 – Vehicular Invasion

This law makes it a serious crime to forcefully go into someone’s car while they’re inside, intending to steal or commit another crime.

This Illinois law says that if someone uses force to reach or climb into a car while another person is inside, planning to steal or do a felony, they can be charged with a major crime called a Class 1 felony.

(a) A person breaks this law if they knowingly and without a good reason use force to go into or reach into a car that someone else is in, planning to steal something or commit another serious crime.

(b) Sentence: The punishment for vehicular invasion is a Class 1 felony, which is a very serious charge that can lead to years in prison.
