720 ILCS 5/17-58 – Fraudulent Production of Infant

This law makes it a crime to fake the birth of a baby to steal someone else’s inheritance.

This Illinois law says that if someone pretends a baby was born to certain parents so the baby can wrongly get money or property that belongs to someone else, that person commits a Class 3 felony.

Sec. 17-58. A person who falsely claims that a baby was born to specific parents, trying to make it seem like the baby has a right to inherit money or property, is breaking the law.
This act is considered “fraudulent production of an infant” and is done with the intent to cheat someone who should rightfully get the inheritance.

Sentence: Anyone found guilty of this crime can be punished for a Class 3 felony, which may include prison time and other serious penalties.
