720 ILCS 5/17-13(b) – Acknowledgment of Fraudulent Conveyance
This law makes it illegal to lie or trick others when handling property transfers or legal documents about property.
This statute says that it’s a crime for someone to knowingly certify a false statement about a property transfer, especially if they do it to cheat or harm someone. It also explains what level of crime and punishment applies if someone breaks this law.
(b) Acknowledgment of fraudulent conveyance. This section says that an official, such as a notary or officer who handles property documents, cannot knowingly say that someone signed or proved a property transfer when they really did not. Doing this on purpose to hurt, trick, or help someone cheat another person is against the law.
(d) Sentence: Committing acknowledgment of fraudulent conveyance is a a Class 4 felony.
