720 ILCS 5/20-2 – Possession Of Explosives Or Explosive Or Incendiary Devices

This law makes it illegal to have or make explosives if you plan to use them for a crime or know someone else will.

This statute says that having, making, or carrying an explosive device or any parts used to make one is against the law if you plan to use it, or know it will be used, to commit a crime. Breaking this law can lead to serious prison time.

(a) A person breaks this law if they have, make, or move any explosive material, bomb timer, detonator, or other fire-starting device, and they either plan to use it to commit a crime or know someone else plans to use it to commit a serious crime.

(b) Sentence: This crime is a Class 1 felony. If found guilty, the person can go to prison for at least 4 years and up to 30 years.
