720 ILCS 5/26-1(a)(8) – Disorderly Conduct – False Report Concerning A Nursing Home

This law makes it a crime to knowingly send a false report about a nursing home to the health department.

This Illinois law says that it is against the law to purposely send false information about a nursing home to the Department of Public Health. Doing this can lead to criminal charges and penalties.

(a) A person commits disorderly conduct when they knowingly:

  1. Send or cause someone else to send a false report to the Department of Public Health about a nursing home or other care facility.

(b) Sentence: Breaking this part of the law is a Class B misdemeanor.

(c) Anyone found guilty of disorderly conduct must also do between 30 and 120 hours of community service, if the court allows and the program is available. If a person is placed on supervision for this crime, they must also complete community service. This requirement doesn’t apply if the court sends the person to jail instead.
